The Race For First

We are smack-dab in the middle of a very exciting battle for 1st place. We are coming down to the wire with only 2 regular season nights of volleyball left. We were 4-0 last week, and I know that Team Mann lost at least 1 of their 4 games. That would put us 2 games out of 1st place. However, 2 out of our last 4 regular season matches are against them, head-to-head. If we can sweep them, we should have 1st place in the bag. But it won't be easy. They are a solid team.

Let's win the trophy, y'all! Well, the fictional, invisible, pretend trophy. I'll carry it around wherever I go.

Standings

The results are in. Take a look for yourself.

6 matches (12 games) left in the regular season. Anything can happen. We've got some tough match-ups ahead of us, but we have been on a major roll lately. We'll see if we can keep the momentum going.

So Far, So Good!

We have definitely proved that we can hang with the big boys. After 16 games into the season, we have a 12-4 record. I am lovin' it! This team has a real shot at winning the end of season tourney. We are still 2nd in the standings behind Team Mann. They were 11-1 before last night's matches...I don't know how they ended up.

Everyone got a piece of the action last night. Matt was a setting machine (and his new girlfriend wasn't even there to watch him.....gosh!). Mr. Redirections himself, Chad Ward, was hitting very well, and by the end of the night, Shannon was puttin' it anywhere he wanted. Matt and I had a little "quick-set" connection goin' as well. We ended last night 4-0, and we hope to build on our record from here.

6-2

Well, we have a few matches under our belts, and we don't look too bad. Our record is now 6-2, and I believe that puts us in 2nd place....not too shabby. We have been getting better and better every week. We all know our roles, and it is gellin' fairly well. You gellin'? I'm gellin'.

Our game schedule looks like a tough one for tonight's match-ups. Let's work our magic, fellas.

League Rules and Notes

League Rules & Notes:

• Play times for all leagues is between 6 and 10 pm, except for the Sunday league which is between 1 and 5 pm.
• Teams may have as many subs as they want, as long as they don't play on another team in the same division in the same league. There is no roster. The "roster" is the players a team used during the league season. Only those players may play in the league tourney at the end of the season.
• If there are Coed Sixes teams that are coming from a distance to Fort Wayne I can alter the schedule so that teams can play 3 to 5 matches each night to make traveling worth the while.
• Reverse Coed (on Fridays) is where the net is set at Women's height and only women can hit and block at the net. Men have to hit behind the ten foot line.
• Matches are two games to 18, 21 cap (rally scoring).
• Prizes for winning the league tourney can include a $15 discount on an upcoming season, but is usually a T-shirt, or something like that.
• Net serves are legal. One toss per serve attempt is allowed. One time-out per game.
• Teams get at least 2 minutes on-court warm up time.
• Tourney rules for Coed Sixes: Teams need a minimum of 3 players to start (and at least one female). Teams may play with one more male than female during the season. In the tourney, teams need 3 women on court to play with 3 men. It is always ok to have more women on court than men.
• If a team is forced to forfeit a first game, the 2nd game of a match is not forfeited until 15 minutes after the match start time. An extra 5 minutes grace period to avoid a forfeit will be given to teams playing on weekdays 6:30 and before.
• Additional forfeit notes: If a team has no players present at game time or the conclusion of the previous match, game one of the next match is forfeited. If a team has at least one player present then that team has the two minute warm-up period to produce a player before game one is forfeited.
• Spiece has child care available until 8 pm for younger kids.
